Depends on the bottle

Isaac T. Dover "idover" says:

Works great for champagne bottles, too! This is a great capper. Another review suggested that it doesn’t work on champagne bottles. Certainly, this may be true for corking. However, the metal plates also support 29mm necks, you just need to use a screwdriver and a few taps from the back, underneath the handles, to pop them out. Once the plates are out, turn them around and as long as the cap will fit (beer caps in the US are generally 26mm), you can cap it. The crown also screws out and can be replaced for 29mm caps. I’ve used this on champagne bottles with 26mm caps and it works great.

Great Item much better than I was expecting! this thing rocks! i am new to beer but have made wine in the past and i expected this caper to be as hard to use as a cheap corker(you have to push on a plunger with a bajillion pounds of force) but no! this thing is good quality fairly inexpensive and is easy to use. Who cares if this thing doesn’t work on champagne bottles this thing is just as good or better than any bench caper because you don’t have to align the bottle underneath it perfectly you just put it on top of the bottles and pull the levers down and you have a perfectly capped bottle of beer.
